Studies show that many people gain weight over the 6 weeks between Thanksgiving and NewYear’s Day.  Some studies estimate 7-10 pounds, others estimate closer to 1-3 lbs.

This weight gain occurs for a multitude of reasons: 1) we are faced with a myriad of tasty holiday treats, 2) we are busier than ever-shopping, going to holiday events and hosting guests.This means we will be eating more than usual with less time to plan meals or schedule exercise or recovery. We eat more food,  we exercise less, we sleep less.

The Holiday Hold ‘Em challenge will create accountability through a private Facebook group to help you make the best decisions for your mental and physical health this holiday season. The goal of this challenge will be to maintain or lose weight over a six week period. You can earn points daily for healthy habits like exercise, nutrition, planning, and recovery. Each week will focus on a new healthy habit and extra points will be awarded for the weekly habit.  Points will be earned for maintaining your weight from the initial weigh in on November 25, 2019 through the final weigh in on January 6, 2020. Bonus points will be allotted for weight loss.

A weekly prize will be given to the participant with the highest points for the week(you may only win a weekly prize once). And a grand prize will be awarded for the person who acrues the most points during the challenge.

A participation fee of $50 will be charged. $40 will be returned to you if you maintain or lose weight during that time. Your fee will be forfeited if you gain weight during that time.
