I was born and raised in Danbury, Connecticut. My dad was a bodybuilder in his teenage years, so we always had a gym in our garage. From a young age, I fondly remember him teaching me how to train on our speed bag and to lift weights properly. I began weight training in earnest when I was 15 years old. It has been my passion ever since. After college at Southern Connecticut State University, I went on to receive a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, and soon became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My first job in mental health was managing a halfway house for Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut. I continued on as a privately practicing psychotherapist for over a decade. In 1999, I married and moved to Virginia.
After my second son was born, I wanted to do something a little less demanding and a lot more fun. Since I was already in the gym every day, I decided to get certified in group fitness and teach some classes myself. I enjoyed it so much that I went on to earn an array of fitness certifications including a personal training certification. One of the best things I’ve ever done however was to embark upon my yoga journey. I began Vinyasa yoga trainings with YogaFit in 2006; I’ve taken many styles of yoga workshops and have completed my E-RYT- 500.
I have directed group fitness programs and have led fitness and yoga classes at numerous fitness facilities in the area. I love life and all it has to offer; ups and downs, joys and sorrows, easy stuff and challenges, laughter and tears, as I know it is all part of the journey. I try to embrace it all. I live in Waynesboro with my loving husband, three amazing sons (although two are in college), and my adorable Cockapoo and Labradoodle. Opening a studio of my own and bringing yoga and all of its benefits to others has always been a dream of mine. I am over the moon to see it come to fruition. I hope to see you there!
